“I thank the people of Puntland for their warm welcome. I believe it shows how much support the government has in this region,” the Prime Minister said. “I would like to assure the people of Puntland that the federal government is at their disposal to assist them in any way possible.”
The Prime Minister’s visit to Puntland is his first since assuming office. It follows his successful visit last week to Galgadud to sign a landmark deal with Ahlu Sunna Waljamaa, establish local public service priorities and facilitate the establishment of local administrations as part of the federal government’s move to extend its national reach.
The Prime Minister said his discussions with regional administration President Abdirahman Mohamed Farole would concentrate on enhanced cooperation between the regional administration and the federal government and how Mogadishu could assist with security issues.
The Prime Minister’s tour continues tomorrow in the region.
